Because of Chinese invasion – which I’ve already mentioned in previous post  »Buddhist monasteries«, Tibetans immigrated to India. Darjeeling is one of the cities, where they settled down. In 1959 Tibetan Refugee Centre was built. The main purpose was to give Tibetans opportunity to study and work. Centre consists of a home for the aged, a school, an orphanage, a clinic and workshops where they produce wollen things – carpets and other wollen items. Their goal is to preserve Tibetan’s culture.

      Thanks David. 😉
Yeah, the trip was great, not as planned, but okay, we have plenty of time left and India won’t go anywhere, so I hope next time we reach Himalayan part of India. And stay healthy. 🙂
