California Highway | California, US
Driving along the never-ending coast of California in the convertible car; the wind is playing around with my messy copper colored hair and bringing the fresh, warm air from the ocean.
Starting the trip in Los Angeles, the city that spreads out to the lands as far as your eyes can see, continuing through the modern looking suburbs, we finished first day of the road trip following the road through Los Padres National Park to the cosy little town Morro Bay. The bay is known for an outstanding Morro Rock, a volcanic neck that raises up to 177 meters above the sea level. Unfortunately, the rock cannot be climbed, but the views at it from the beach are as fascinating. To catch a perfect light we were compelled to get up early – 5 am. Based on Jono’s sleepy face I probably wasn’t his favorite person after suggesting that, but the sunrises are my thing. Always worthy. After well deserved American style breakfast we drove all the way to Monterey, known for the fascinating aquarium, where you could easily spent all day. After observing jellyfishes, octopuses, and interacting with penguins, we’ve got a strong desire for seafood. Coincidences happen. A fancy dinner in the bay was the best way to finish the day before returning back to Oakland next day.
Thanks Jono, that was a lovely trip.
In a week time I’ve returned back to West Coast, this time with Dan. On the way to SoCall where we picked up his new puppy, we made a short stopover at the Lobos Point State Park and waited for one of the nicest sunsets.
