Balkan Rivers Tour – Skadar Lake, Ada Bojana
“The river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence”
If we need to describe project Balkan Rivers Tour in one word “persistence” would be the chosen one. Rok and his team went on the second kayak expedition, sharing the idea of saving the rivers of Balkan and fighting against building dams. After they finished whitewater kayaking on Morača river, I joined the team on the finish line, paddling final 90 kilometers on Skadar Lake, the biggest lake in Southern Europe, and followed Bojana river that flows into the sea.
Besides paddling in the calm lake, paddling in the waves, surf kayaking, enjoying good food (especially long waiting “pohane šnite”), celebrating 1st of May on a sandy “copacabana” beach in Montenegro, followed by policemen everywhere and everytime, enjoying the views, swimming in the cold lake, having a beer or two solving the world and many more – we had a strong message that was spread out in the way Rok does it – kayaking.
